Guide in making soundbites

When you need to make 30 second soundbite for upload, you must use a sound editing program that can cut out a piece of your full track and save it as an MP3-file.

Examples of programs that can be used:
Audacity (Windows, Mac, Linux)
Garage Band (Mac)

Below we have described 5 easy steps to using the program "Audacity" which is a free Open-Source program.

You can download the program here: Audacity website

Step 1

Install Audacity and also remember to download/install an extra plugin "LAME MP3 Encoder", which is necessary for saving the soundbite as MP3. See this page for instructions.

Step 2

Open the sound file in Audacity

Step 3

Before you select the piece of the sound file to be cropped, you can click on "Length" (at the bottom), so you can see how many seconds you select.

Now you can use the mouse to select the 30 seconds you wish to use as a sound bite. (and press "Play" to replay the selection).

Step 4

In the "File"-menu you now choose "Export selection".

Step 5

Now you enter a file name for the soundbite. Remember to save choose the file-type "MP3".

Please remember which folder you saved the file to, so you can find it again when you need to upload it to TrackTesting.
